ABOUT US
The Rural Residency Planning and Development (RRPD) and the Teaching Health Center Planning and Development (THCPD) Technical Assistance Centers and the University of North Carolina (UNC) Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research are hosting the 2025 Rural and Health Center National GME Conference (formerly the Annual Grantee Meeting) on September 10 – 12, 2025 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland.
This annual conference is open to the public and is for anyone interested in rural and health center graduate medical and dental education program development and sustainability. This three-day event will foster a collaborative learning community focused on developing and sustaining residencies in rural and underserved areas. We hope this conference will encourage the continued sharing of outcomes and successful practices in residency start-up and vitality.
The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded Rural Residency Planning and Development (RRPD) Program is supporting the development of new rural residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, OB/GYN, general surgery, preventive medicine, and other specialties as determined by HRSA in future NOFOs.
The U.S. HRSA funded Teaching Health Center Planning and Development (THCPD) program is supporting the development of new accredited or expanded community-based residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine-pediatrics, psychiatry, OB/GYN, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or geriatrics that expands the physician and dental workforce in underserved areas.
